1-MNA is an endogenous substance of vitamin origin, physiologically found in the human body. 1-MNA belongs to the group of quaternary pyridinium salts. It is formed in our body as a result of metabolic reactions in the liver. This constituent is found in very few foods.
The richest known natural sources of 1-MNA are the brown algae Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) and green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis). Metabolic processes slow with age, so dietary supplementation with this component is recommended for adults.
